Study-Focus
Expand and evaluate and expand the More Than a Script value-based care model.
-
1. Expand rural pharmacist-led chronic care services.
This increases patient access to ongoing diabetes and hypertension support.
-
2. Improve clinical outcomes (A1c and blood pressure).
Reduces complications for patients and improves coordination of care for pharmacists and physicians.
-
3. Strengthen medication adherence and engagement.
Patients benefit from more consistent use of medicines.
-
4. Demonstrate scalable, interoperable documentation and value-based impact.
Pharmacists can document services in standardized ways that support reimbursement and sustainability proving the importance of supporting pharmacists to operate at the top of their license.

Study-Focus
Generate concrete evidence on the impacts of the real-time prescription benefits standards.
-
1. Informed cost-of-care conversations.
Patients and providers can have informed conversations at the point of care.
-
2. Better health outcomes for patients.
Medication adherence could be improved if patients can get the least expensive option when they arrive at the pharmacy.
-
3. Facilitate the use of more affordable, clinically appropriate drugs.
Use of lower-cost RTPB recommendations should generate cost savings for both patients and public and private payors.
-
4. Facilitate the use of more affordable, clinically appropriate drugs.
Increased price transparency and the resulting sensitivity to pricing could lead manufacturers to set lower prices.

Study-Focus
Build a pharmacy management system and name a technology vendor and an administrator to greatly improve the speed and accuracy of REMS data exchange for healthcare systems and pharmacy workflows.
Positive Impact Potential
-
1. Easier launch of REMS programs for pharmacies.
This project should make it possible to get specialty medications into the hands of those who need them quickly and safely by doing away with what is now often a manual information exchange.
-
2. Quicker access to specialty medications for patients.
Providers and pharmacies will be better equipped to guide patients through the adoption of innovative or complex new treatments in a timelier manner.
